“For I will pour out water on the thirsty land And streams on the dry ground; I will pour out My Spirit on your offspring And My blessing on your descendants; And they will spring up among the grass Like poplars by streams of water.” (Isaiah 44:3-4, NASB)
Messages from the Office of the President carry weight and special meaning.
In the U.S., we tune in to the Presidential Address. We listen to the State of the Union, the view from the Oval Office. In business, we get “All Employee Letters” or emails from the Office of the Chairman providing critical updates and informing us what to expect in the days ahead.
Since God is Founder, Creator and Chairman of Planet Earth, we should pay attention to this verse. God instructs Isaiah to declare that He will pour out water on the thirsty land… “I will pour out My Spirit on your offspring And My blessing on your descendants.” This message should encourage every Christian. It certainly encourages and comforts me since summertime in Houston is very hot and dry. Lawns and potted plants need watering every day. If you don’t water often the ground dries out and cracks, the grass and plants wither and die. If you want to keep them alive, then you must pour out water. It’s a real pain if you don’t have a sprinkler system. As Mama Esther (Karen’s mom) will attest, you can spend hours in the heat watering with an old-fashioned garden hose.
Fortunately for every believer, God has provided a fully-automated sprinkler system. God’s Sprinkler System pours out His Spirit and blessings on a regular basis. Child of God, it’s your choice, you must decide. Summers can be long, hot and dry. Will you make it through the summer?
Lord, thank you for pouring out your Spirit, blessings and favor on my life and my family. Jesus, help me remember the system is set on “automatic” as I walk in faithful obedience with you. Through the blood of Jesus and in the name of Jesus I pray, amen.
