Using Your Influence

God gives every one of us a sphere of influence, and if you share your Jesus-story in that arena, it becomes a powerful invitation of hope.

Colossians 1:27 (NIV®)

To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

I don’t think we can fully understand or even imagine the power of our Jesus-story. God gives every one of us a sphere of influence—in our neighborhoods, in our homes, in our workplaces, among our friends—and wherever that may be, there are people who trust and respect you. If you’re willing to share your Jesus-story in that arena, it becomes a powerful invitation of hope. We’ve become so acclimated to religious activity that I think in some ways it has diminished our imagination of the power of God to deliver people from sin and darkness. God isn’t just an organized expression of doctrine―He’s a delivering God. It’s the essence of the Bible’s story, from Genesis all the way through the Book of Revelation. People apart from God are awaiting a hellish eternity, and your Jesus-story can lead them away from that. Remember: Christ in you is the hope of glory.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the deliverance You have brought to my life and for the privilege of sharing with others what You have done for me. Thank You that You use our Jesus-stories to bring people into Your Kingdom. Thank You for Your Word—for its truth, its power, and its authority. In Jesus’ name, amen.
