Peace with God

00:00

Description

Our emotions may not reflect His peace, but we should not paint God with our emotions. Instead, we should focus on God's peace with us.

In Romans chapter 5 Paul explained to us the benefits of being justified by faith. In chapter 3 he did not develop those benefits and in chapter 4 he illustrated justification by faith and its positive and negative meaning with the life of Abraham and David. Justification means that righteousness is reckoned to us and sin and lawlessness are not. But it means more than that.

Therefore having been justified by faith, we continually have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, (Rom 5:1)

The part of the bonanza of grace is that we are continually having peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Whether we feel peaceful or not does not determine our status before God. Whatever our emotional state whether we are feeling depressed guilty or anxious, God is still at peace. He has an adequate answer in the death of his Son to be peaceful about us forever. Our emotions may not reflect his peace but we should not paint God with our emotions. Instead we should focus on God's peace with us and as a result our own hearts may well become quite peaceful.
