Catalyst for Faith

Mark 1:14 (NIV®)

After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. “The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!”

Jesus said, “The kingdom of God is near.” I’d say so -- Jesus was in town! And He said to the people, “The process for believing begins with repenting.” All of us struggle to believe God. There are battles in our minds about what we believe. Even pastors process those struggles. And the catalyst to help you grow in your belief, to implement God’s truth in your life, is repentance. I like the imagery of repentance as a catalyst. In chemistry, if you’re trying to make a chemical reaction happen more quickly you add a catalyst. Repentance is the catalyst for faith, for belief, growing in your life. Repentance opens the doorway to believing God in greater ways. Let’s make a practice of repentance and look forward to a greater faith in God.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your word and the truth it brings to my life. Lord, I choose repentance. Forgive me for choosing my own path. I want to live my life for Your purposes, not my own. I receive Your forgiveness. In the name of Jesus, amen.
