The people who walked in darkness
have seen a great light;
those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness,
on them has light shone. (Isaiah 9:2)
What is it that’s frightening about darkness? Haven’t you ever gotten up in the middle of the night and tried to find your way through your house, stumbling over things in the dark? It’s a little scary because you just don’t know what’s right in front of you. It’s the uncertainty that breeds fear.
On the darkness of this present age, our world is wrought with uncertainty and just looking for the light. And while it’s true that many will see the light and outright deny its truth, we, as the people of God, are called to shine that light nonetheless!
Jesus said, “I am the light of the world” (John 8:12). And then He said to us, “You are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14). Those of us who love the light are then called to shine that light to others in the midst of so much darkness and confusion. We’re called to bring certainty to an uncertain world.
Don’t let those around you walk in the darkness while you have the light. Let your light shine and show the way to the Way—Jesus Christ. When those who are walking in darkness see God’s great light, their lives will never be the same!
Let your light shine so that those who are walking in darkness will never be the same!
