When I was in Bible school, we had an excellent Greek professor named Hélène Balarin, who later became a skilled Bible translator. I remember an expression I learned in this course: "Doxa to Theo," meaning “Glory to God.” “Theo” means “God” and “Doxa” glory.
It’s so important to give God the glory…
- He is God; we are humans.
- He is eternal; we are just a vapor that passes away (see the Bible, James 4:14)
- He is the Creator; we are His creation.
When you contemplate His creation, everything within you should stir to give Him glory! To proclaim, “Glory to God!”
Sometimes, our life circumstances try to convince us to reject God rather than praise and lift Him high. And yet, He is almighty, eternal, and glorious. He is divinely extraordinary, our God who has always existed from the beginning and always will. He is the Creator, infinitely great. He is not limited by our space and time.
When we glorify God, when we proclaim His “doxology,” we acknowledge that He can do anything! We allow Him to act in our weakness. We open the door to His miracle!
Jesus said, “‘...your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly.’” (see the Bible, Matthew 6:4)
As you glorify God all throughout this day, believe that He will reward you!
