Your Everyday, Ordinary Life

Description

Beth Jones reveals that the secret to a transformed life is to renew our minds with His thoughts. He takes our ordinary lives and makes them extraordinary.

"So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering." (Romans 12:1, Message)

God wants our ordinary lives—our sleeping, eating, going-to-work and walking-around lives. The Lord wants to transform our lives from the inside out. When we place our lives before the Lord and we renew our mind with His Word—He transforms us. When we follow His leadership, He takes our ordinary lives and makes them extraordinary. Are you ready to see your everyday, ordinary life transformed?

If you are bored with your Christian life—this devo is for you. If people are shocked when they discover you're a Christian—this devo is for you. If your Christian life has been ineffective—this devo is for you! God's not interested in developing hyper-spiritual, carbon-copy Christians with no variety, flavor or fruit; nor is He looking for Christians who are so carnal they look like the culture around them. In other words, the Lord is not interested in transforming people to be ineffective. He doesn't want us so "heavenly-minded we are no earthy good" and on the other hand, He doesn't want us so "earthly-minded we are no heavenly good."

The secret to a transformed life is to renew our minds with His thoughts. Let's read the rest of the passage: "So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for Him. Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what He wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you." (Romans 12:1-2, Message) This passage gives us five clues: Place your life before God. Embrace what God is doing in your life. Fix your attention on God. Recognize what He wants. Quickly respond. When we do these things the Lord changes our everyday, ordinary lives!

So, what type of person does the Lord want us to become? The Lord is interested in transforming us into legitimate, authentic, growing, loving, joyful, Spirit-led, mature, fruitful followers of Christ—those who are conformed to His image, experiencing the abundant life and becoming all things to all men to win them to Christ!

The Lord wants this for everyone. It's true; He wants to change our everyday, ordinary lives—our sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around lives—from the inside, out.

Say It: “Father God, I give You my everyday, ordinary life—my sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life. I choose to embrace what You are doing in my life. I fix my attention on You. I am watching to recognize what You want. I will quickly respond. I thank You for transforming my life from the inside out. In Jesus' Name. Amen."
