Your Destiny Is in the House

Description

Have you collided with your purpose? The best way to start is by connecting with your local church.

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He also has planted eternity in men's hearts and minds [a divinely implanted sense of a purpose working through the ages which nothing under the sun but God alone can satisfy], yet so that men cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. Ecclesiastes 3:11, AMP

God has a divine purpose for each one of us. This divinely implanted sense of purpose resides in every person and at some point in our lives, we all ask these well-known rhetorical questions, “What’s my purpose?” “Why am I here?”

Thankfully, God has answers for those questions. He knows why we are here! He also knows that nothing under the sun will ever satisfy us until we connect with our divine purpose.

Are you satisfied?

There is nothing more heartbreaking than a person who lives and dies and never fulfills their God-given purpose for being here. They fulfilled a purpose—but it wasn't God’s purpose. They may have worked jobs, got married, raised kids, exercised, made lots of money, paid bills, gave to charity, ate food, took trips, played sports, enjoyed toys and hobbies and eventually…died. The end. And, unfortunately, they did not tap into their God-given purpose. How sad. Don’t be that type of person. Instead, discover and fulfill the divinely implanted purpose God has for your life and be satisfied!

How?

You will connect with your divine purpose when you connect with God and His priorities. Specifically, you will discover your purpose when you are linked with Jesus and His Body––the Church. Jesus is the Head and we are the Body, His Church. Jesus and His Body––the Church––are one. Jesus loves the Church. He’s the Head of the Church. He is building His Church. His Church (the Body of Christ) is front and center in God's priorities. Our divine purpose is connected to His priority––the Church––at the global and local level.

The Psalmist understood something about this:

“Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are those who dwell in Your house and Your presence; they will be singing Your praises all the day long. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!” (Palm 84:4, AMP)

Those who dwell in the Lord’s house and His presence are blessed indeed! They are happy, fortunate and to be envied—why? They have touched their divine purpose. At some level, they have committed themselves to the Lord and His Church; their God-given gifts have been discovered, recognized and utilized in the House and it's making a difference in the lives of others. As a result, they are gratified, fulfilled and singing His praises! How does this play out?

We were talking with a well-known Grammy-award winning artist a couple of years ago and he said that he will not bring anyone on tour with him and his band unless they are already serving in their own local church. This artist understands the power of finding people who are tapped into their purpose. I like the way another friend put it—this pastor’s wife said, “People collide with their purpose when they serve the House.” It’s true. You never know what doors, connections or opportunities will come your way when you serve the House of God!

Have you collided with your purpose? The best way to start is by connecting with your local church. Be led by the Lord to the church He has for you. Go in with a humble heart, willing to serve the purpose of that House in whatever capacities are needed. (Maybe you’ll start off cleaning bathrooms, directing traffic, serving kids, organizing outreach events, making coffee; maybe you'll be asked to sit on the Board, feed the homeless, teach a men's group, lead a disaster relief trip or serve wherever the needs may be—get started.) Trust God to help you discover and utilize your God-given gifts. Expect your life to flourish as you connect with your divinely implanted purpose.

Those who are planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. (Psalm 92:13, NKJV)

Say It: “Father, I want to fulfill the divinely implanted sense of purpose You have for my life. I believe Jesus is the Head and I am a member of Your Body—the Church. I know that I will collide with my purpose as I serve Your House. I thank You that as I connect with Your local church—You will orchestrate open doors, connections or opportunities for my God-given gifts and divine purpose to flourish. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
