Your Alarm Clock
Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water—HEBREWS 10:22.
Guilt is not something you should ignore, not something you should drug or drown or excuse. Guilt is your friend.
Does that surprise you? Guilt is like an alarm clock, your wake-up call! If you rationalize your guilt or drown it in alcohol or bury it in work, you risk exposing yourself to God’s judgment.
Jesus says the Holy Spirit “will convict the world of guilt” (John 16:8). The conviction of sin and that guilty feeling should drive us to the cross in confession of sin so that we might be cleansed … and our guilt can be removed. There is only one stain remover for the guilt of sin, and it’s the blood of Jesus. Let your guilt drive you to the cross. Then you will experience the cleansing flow of the blood that washes white as snow.
So when the alarm goes off, pay attention!
