You Will Never Walk in Darkness Again

Are you following Jesus? If so, then you will never walk in darkness again.

I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness (John 12:46).

A number of years ago, I went on a spelunking expedition through Mammoth Cave in Kentucky.

It was quite the experience.

One passageway was so narrow and shallow we literally had to crawl on our bellies to get through it.

At the other end was a huge cavern.

The only light was from the lights on our helmets.

On our guide’s signal, we all turned our lights off.

It was so dark I could not see my hand in front of my face. It was unsettling and paralyzing. I was afraid to take a step in any direction.

I was sure glad when the guide gave the signal to turn our lights back on. I didn’t like being in that darkness. When we did turn on our helmet lights, my unsettledness went away.

That’s the kind of darkness we lived in before knowing Christ. No wonder we couldn’t find our way.

Here is the good news: Jesus is the light of the world. Whoever follows him will never walk in darkness.

Are you following Jesus? If so, then you will never walk in darkness again. To follow Jesus means that you can be confident and sure in the light of his love.
