You Can Never Be Too Sure
Description
A friend of mine wrote a good little book called Stop Asking Jesus Into Your Heart. After doing so thousands of times, J. D. finally came to a place where he realized that being sure of his eternal destiny required a step of faith – not just trusting in Jesus to save Him, but trusting that Jesus had indeed honored His promise to do so and would never let him go.
The Apostle Peter echoes a similar sentiment.
So, friends, confirm God’s invitation to you, his choice of you. Don’t put it off; do it now. Do this, and you’ll have your life on a firm footing, the streets paved and the way wide open into the eternal kingdom of our Master and Savior, Jesus Christ. - 2 Peter 1:10-11 (MSG)
Peter answers a big question on many of our minds. Am I chosen? Am I in God’s family? The way to be sure is simply to receive His invitation to eternal life, which is wide open for anyone and everyone to embrace.
So do this now. If you have doubts about where you stand with God and where you’ll spend eternity, receive Him by faith once and for all. He never lets go of His children, so once you’ve made that decision, walk in confidence as His child. If you need help, express something to God along these lines:
Dear God, I know I’ve sinned against you and I don’t deserve heaven. But I know You’ve loved me so deeply that You gave Your Son, Jesus, for me. I trust Jesus today as my Savior. I’m receiving Your invitation. And from this day forward, I want to walk in the confidence that I am your child because I know Your Son, Jesus. Thank You for keeping Your promise to save me! Amen!
