YOU Can Have Hope, Part 1

If any area of your life—big or small—seems hopeless, know that God is your source of hope.

May the God of your hope so fill you with all joy and peace in believing [through the experience of your faith] that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound and be overflowing (bubbling over) with hope. Romans 15:13 (AMP)

Hope is a powerful force. Hope will motivate you toward the greatest life possible. Hope will propel you to be YOU. Hope looks at the outward circumstances and believes in the promises of God. When the economy is down, when the report is negative, when the marriage is bad, Hope says, “All of this can change. God is good and He’s going to help me through this to get to a brighter tomorrow.”

Hope is a vital component you must possess along your journey of being YOU.

When I was teenager, I had no hope. My life was visionless, and I didn’t believe anything would ever change. I was completely hopeless. So I medicated my pain through an endless cycle of drug use.

Then one day, I met my spiritual father, Julius Young. He looked up at me and said, “Big Red, you can change.” I don’t know why or how those words made such an impact in my life, but when I heard them, all of a sudden hope was birthed in my heart. Hope hit me, and I began to believe my life could change. One year later, I was in Bible school, and shortly after that I met Wendy. I’m so glad my life intersected with Julius and with the hope of God.

Whatever area of your life, big or small, that seems hopeless, let me assure you: God is your source of hope. And He will fill you completely with joy and peace when you trust in him. No matter how big that hopelessness might appear to be, God is bigger. He’s big enough to overflow that emptiness with His powerful force of hope. If He did it for me when I was a rebellious drug addict and convict, He will most certainly do it for you. Hope in God. You can trust Him.

We all have times when we lose sight of our hope, so it’s important to know what things can generate hope in our lives. What is a hope catalyst for you? Is it a certain scripture? An uplifting song? A walk in nature? A long workout? Identify those things that help you restore hope in your heart, and engage in one of those today!

Father, I believe You are my source of hope. I believe You can bring change to those areas of my life where I have given up hope. Help me today to trust in You. Help me to see through Your eyes of hope.
