You Are More Than Your Swimsuit

Description

Renee Swope provides a valuable reminder for all mothers.

The ritual had begun, the spraying and rubbing on of sunscreen!

My friend Lisa-Jo was telling me about her first trip to the pool this summer. She described how she was swimming with her three kids, their tiny selves next to what she called her not-so-tiny-self. I thought she was about to tell me how hard it was to be around all those skinny lifeguards but she didn’t!

She said it made her proud because that body of hers that can’t ever find a flattering bathing suit, that body birthed her two boys and her little girl. I was amazed as Lisa-Jo described how three times her body stretched to accommodate tiny feet, heads, and hearts.  Her body is round where some say it should be flat and soft where some say it should be hard, but she said she knows SHE is more than her swimsuit.

I don’t know about you, but I needed to be reminded of that!
