Yielding to His Will
“Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done” Luke 22:42.
Some people want what they want right now, and they want no matter the cost. The problem with this philosophy is that powering through life in this way does not always go as planned. It is usually after some unnecessary struggles that we look back and realize how a different, more patient plan would have been much more fulfilling.
We’ve been discussing a formula for fulfillment and here’s what we know so far:
Jesus + Obedience = a great start to a fulfilled life.
To complete the formula, we need to multiply this by YIELDING.
As we grow in our relationship with Jesus through obedience, we discover that we can trust Him with everything in our lives. That means not acting on our own instinct, but YIELDING, giving way, to God’s will instead of our own. By YIELDING to God’s will and plan for us we are opening a window to watch Him work miracles in our lives that would have been missed if we had tried to power through on our own.
Ask God to give you the courage to yield to His will and plan in an area you are struggling with today.
Write down this area you are yielding to God so that you can remember it later and recognize how God worked through it.
