Wisdom Is Key to Leadership
Description
How to get wisdom
“[I] do not cease giving thanks for you, while making mention of you in my prayers; that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him.” Eph. 1: 16-17
Wisdom enables you to make decisions that will move you toward your vision and make your vision live. It is the ability to make sound decisions.
Wisdom involves the application of knowledge, skill and intelligence. Your success as a leader depends on the wisdom you use in making decisions.
How can you get wisdom?
1. You can get wisdom by looking to God who is the source of wisdom.
“The foolishness of God is wiser than men.” 1 Corinthians 1:25
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” Proverbs 9:10
2. You can get wisdom by asking God for it.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all men generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5-8
3. You can get wisdom through wise counselors.
“Through presumption comes nothing but strife, but with those who receive counsel is wisdom.” Proverbs 13:10
4. You can enhance your wisdom by increasing your competence in: your area of functional expertise and industry experience; management of things; and directing people.
5. You can enhance your wisdom by increasing your intellectual strength.
You are accountable for what has been entrusted to you. God’s wisdom helps you be the best possible steward of the leadership responsibilities you have been given.
“And from everyone who has been given much shall much be required; and to whom they entrusted much, of him they will ask all the more.” Luke 12:48b
