Will Your Offering Be One of Praise or Grumbling?

Description

How would you react to rough circumstances? Similar to Job, God knows the exact weight that we can shoulder, and when to draw the line.

“The Lord gives and the Lord takes away, may the name of the Lord be praised!" -Job 1:21

Do you know what kind of faith it would take - having lost all your possessions, all your children in a single day and be able to say what Job said? I almost cannot imagine it!  I quote him all the time, but - I have not lost what he did.  And yet, Job was able to see God’s sovereign hand at work in his situation. When you get right down to it - Satan and God were in an argument over the strength of Job’s faith. Satan was sure Job would crumble. God knew better. And, so - Satan was given power to destroy everything, but not take Job’s life. And yet, Job's offering was one of praise!

I’d like to think that I would do the same in the midst of his circumstances. Thankfully we each have our place in history and I’m pretty sure mine doesn’t involve a house collapsing on my 7 children. But - we all have burdens we bear. God knows the exact pressures that it will take in each one of our lives to form that kind of faith. He knows the exact weight that we can shoulder, and when to draw the line.

Prayer: Oh, sweet Heavenly Father - thank you that you never put more on us than we can handle. You always provide a way for us to “stand up” under the pressure.  Thank you that you are refining us - in ways only You fully understand. May we look for Your hand in every situation, LORD; fully assured that you are sovereign and are working it all out according to Your plan. Amen
