Widow's Oil, Part 5
She left him and afterward shut the door behind her and her sons. They brought the jars to her and she kept pouring. When all the jars were full, she said to her son, "Bring me another one." But he replied, "There is not a jar left." Then the oil stopped flowing. 2 Kings 4:5-6 NIV
The jar she had thought soon would be empty, kept on pouring. Dear friend, the blessings of God will never run out. He will be enough to meet you at your point of need.
They thought they had very little oil. When the widow came to Elisha in utter despair, she thought she was about to lose her two children. She didn’t have enough oil to feed her family, certainly not enough to fill someone else’s jar. She filled, however, as many as she borrowed! I am fully convinced that if she had borrowed more jars, there would have been more oil! God’s blessings will never run out as long as you have need and you have the ability to be filled by Him.
This widow obeyed the word of God. If she had not trusted Elisha, then she would not have had any jars to fill. If she had trusted him even more, and gathered more jars, imagine what she might have been able to do. The bottom line for me, however, is that God came true for her, and He will come true for you!
The great principle of this story for me is that while she was faithfully serving God, being obedient to His Word, God was working a miracle in her life, even beyond what she had imagined. How much are you willing to let God do in your life? Are you willing to trust Him with everything you have? Are you willing to allow Him to take you wherever He desires? Are you willing to stretch your life and your comfort zone so that He might fill it with His plans?
God wants to bless you beyond what you can imagine. Will you allow Him to?
