Widow's Oil, Part 2

Description

It really doesn’t matter what you start with. If Jesus is in your equation, then you will always have enough!

Elisha replied to her, "How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?" "Your servant has nothing there at all," she said, "except a little oil." 2 Kings 4:2 NIV

Maybe it went something like this:

ELISHA: Let me see if I’ve got this straight... Your husband is dead. You don’t have any money. The creditors are looking for you. They want to take your sons. And you’re scared to death. Does that just about summarize it? Okay, let’s start with what you do have.

WIDOW: Well, I really don’t have anything.

ELISHA: Nothing?

WIDOW: Well, just a little oil.

ELISHA: Okay, let’s start with that....

That reminds me of another Biblical story that goes something like this:

DISCIPLES: The people are hungry.

JESUS: Let’s give them something to eat!

DISCIPLES: We have no food. Six months wages wouldn’t feed all these people.

JESUS: What do you have?

DISCIPLES: Five loaves and two fish.

JESUS: Okay, let’s start with that.....

What’s the principle here? It really doesn’t matter what you start with. If Jesus is in the equation, you will always have enough!

Is Jesus in your equation?
