Who Needs Encouragement?
“Your consolation” ... other versions say, “Your comforts,” “Your encouragement” ...
One day, a friend and I decided (a bit of a crazy idea) to climb a mountain called Mont Blanc du Tacul in the French Alps…It was a first for me to climb a mountain just shy of 14,000 feet! We started hiking up, and after several hours of strenuous effort, we reached the summit and admired the view. It was mind-blowing, breathtaking!
But alas, I had forgotten one thing: it wasn’t enough to simply climb a mountain ... you have to climb back down afterwards! I was exhausted, and as we navigated the dangerous descent, we came across a group of people ascending. One of these people, inspired, looked me in the eyes and simply said, “you can do it!” These few words helped me, strengthened me, gave me the motivation to keep going.
We all need to be encouraged. Like He did for the blind beggar Bartimaeus when everyone else was warning him to be quiet, Jesus stops to encourage you. (Read this passage in the Bible in Mark 10:46-52). He calls out to you with all His love, despite whatever is trying to silence you.
Take courage ... your situation is going to change. Stand up, shake off your sadness, let it fall, and take up the joy of the Lord! For it is His joy that is your strength!
Nothing is impossible when it is God Himself who is encouraging you!
