Who Is Shaping Your Thinking?
“It is the Spirit Who gives life [He is the Life-giver]; the flesh conveys no benefit whatever [there is no profit in it]. The words (truths) that I have been speaking to you are spirit and life.”
(John 6:63, AMP)
In this verse, Jesus points out the difference between a “Worldly” (Flesh) mindset and a “Kingdom” (Spirit) mindset. He said it is the Spirit who gives life. He goes on to say there is no profit in worldly thinking or philosophy. Notice His use of the word profit which means – gain, advantage, service or benefit, to make progress. If a kingdom mindset leads to life and abundance, then it follows that the worldly mindset leads to death and lack.
Let’s look closer at this worldly mindset. A worldly mindset honors and follows Satan; believes only what it sees or experiences with the five senses; believes Satan’s lies and deception; opposes the Word of God; and operates on doubt and fear. It leads to sin and rebellion; seeks darkness and hides from the light; focuses on selfish desires and disregards others. It focuses on temporal things that fade away; changes often based on social trends and worldly norms; leads to intense feelings of shame, hopelessness, depression and despair; produces curses and strongholds in your life; and ultimately ends in sickness, death, and destruction.
In contrast, a kingdom mindset honors and follows God; relies on faith and believes in what it cannot see; rests on God’s truth (Word); stands in agreement with God’s Word; and operates on love and compassion. It leads to righteousness and obedience; brings light and overcomes darkness; focuses on serving others; endures the tests of time; and is eternal and changeless. It generates love, hope, confidence and courage; blessings and favor; and ends in good health, prosperity and life.
Child of God, who has been shaping your thinking and actions? Who do you trust and believe? Do you have a worldly or kingdom mindset? I encourage you to decide today to be kingdom-minded. Chose to think and act like Jesus in agreement with His Word that you may have life!
Father, thank you for the truth and power of your Word. Holy Spirit, teach me to have a kingdom mindset at all times, that I may have abundant life, and that it may be well with my soul. Through the blood of Jesus and in the name of Jesus I pray, amen.
