Who He Is

Description

Struggling with fear is silly if you truly trust in the Lord. Never doubt Him; He loves you.

Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.”  Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? (John 14:8-9 ESV)

I must have read those verses dozens of times and breezed through them until this week when I did a full stop.

“Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip (Lori)?”

Lately I have been struggling with fear . . . which is silly if you truly trust in the Lord.  I have trusted Him for good parking spots, financial provisions, and safety for my family. No problem. But suddenly, with hormones raging, I started to doubt and to take my eyes off of Him.

“Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip (Lori)?”

I have been walking with the Lord for decades. I have read and re-read his Word. I have felt his presence. I have experienced his healing power.  I have felt his love. How on earth did I let go? How did I forget his goodness and mercy? How have I forgotten WHO He is?

I put on a YouTube version of the Gaithers’ song, He is Here, and let it play and play over me as I read several sections of the Word that speaks of His love towards me. His arms wrapped tightly around me with each remembrance. What a silly girl I was, doubting my Lord! Oh how He loves me!

Father, forgive us for walking with You for years and yet forgetting who You are. Thank You for your Word that shows us Your character and Your love towards us. Help us to remember who we are in You and to lean and trust in You – always!  Amen
