Who Do You Admire?

Renee Swope explains how she admires people who overcome obstacles by tackling them instead of running from them.

I really admire people who overcome obstacles by tackling them instead of tiptoeing around them. And my son Joshua is one of those people.

Honestly, he’s nothing like me. He's introverted. He's very adventurous, and wants to establish his own path. So he’s willing to take risks I tend to avoid.

But, he also recognizes his own limitations, hesitancies, and self-doubts. Yet, I've watched Joshua face those lions and go after them, instead of running from them.

In his job as a cinematographer, he needs to network a lot and interact in large groups of people. And that is really hard for an introvert. But, instead of shying away from it, he's gotten creative by inviting people to have coffee or lunch with him and build relationships that way. And he’s always reading books by other entrepreneurs to learn from them.

So, what do you see in others that you admire?
