What World Are You Living In?

00:00

Description

It is our responsibility to make sure that we are emotionally and instinctively living out of our identity in Christ.

When Paul asked for a worthwhile response to God's wonderful grace in chapters 4 through 6 of Ephesians, he gave specific commands to make sure that believers are living out of their new identity in Christ.

22 that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside [like clothing] the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit,

23 and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind,

24 and put [like clothing] on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth—(Eph 4:22-24).

Paul used the metaphor of clothing to ask the question, are we living in the clothing of our old identity in Adam with its lies, or are we living in the new identity in Christ? It is our responsibility to make sure that we are emotionally and instinctively living out of our identity in Christ. Otherwise what we will do for God will be based on the false desires and thinking of our old way of living. We must so consciously embrace our new identity in Christ that it becomes an instinctive part of our life.
