What We Worship Determines Our Fate

00:00

Description

We must find God the Father and the Son as deep centers of pleasure for our hearts. When that happens, a far more healthy Christian life will result.

All human beings have the capacity to worship. That is a great danger because we could end up worshiping the wrong thing. Israel was warned by Moses as they entered the promised land not to worship false gods.

And it shall come to pass if you do at all forget the Lord your God, and go after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that you shall surely perish. (Deuteronomy 8:19)

If they go after false gods, they will perish. This capacity to worship is a dangerous thing because it can be placed on false and inferior objects. In the Book of Revelation a false Antichrist, the beast or wild animal, will be worshiped by the inhabitants of the earth and that will lead to their doom. Everyone worships. Whether it is the atheist who worships himself and serves the false conclusions of his heart, or the Christian who found Jesus Christ to be total reality, everyone worships. What we have to be careful about is that the delight and adoration of our hearts is not given to anyone or anything other than God. Only He is absolutely worthy of the adoration of our hearts and the service of our bodies. We must find God the Father and the Son as deep centers of pleasure for our hearts. When that is so, a far more healthy Christian life will result.
