What Makes You Stand Out?
“But a generous man devises generous things, and by generosity he shall stand.” Isaiah 32:8, NKJV
Wanna stand out in the crowd? Be generous! I love this verse because it tells us that a generous person is always looking for ways to be generous. They are devising ways to bless others. Generosity makes a person stand out – probably because this trait is so rare these days!
Generous people aren’t always rich. In fact, sometimes it’s the poorest people who are the most generous. They don’t have two nickels to rub together, but they’ll give you one if you need it. Sometimes, the richest among us are the stingiest. Having money doesn’t make you stand out; generosity does!
How do you know if you’re generous? Simple – you are not governed by your checkbook, bank account, the price of gas or the economy. You are governed by wisdom and faith in God and His Word and are free to give!
Generous people are tithers…that’s where it starts. Generous people help Jesus build His Church and they make sacrificial gifts to that end. Generous people help the poor and needy. Generous people give a good tip to the waitress, maid, nail tech and hair stylist! Generous people don’t “nickel and dime” their friends, but rather they look for ways to pick up the tab, fill up a gas tank or treat others to God’s goodness in unexpected ways. (Generosity isn’t just in dollars and cents, it’s in giving your time, compliments, encouragement, prayer and a host of things to others!)
It takes faith to be generous. Today, be a generous person who devises generous things and by generosity you will stand out!
Say This: “Father, I choose to be generous. I rebuke a stingy, selfish, fear-driven attitude in my own heart and mind. You are God…and I believe You have the power to bless and saturate my life with Your generosity; so I am free to be generous toward You, Your Church and those around me. Today, I am looking for ways to be generous. Let my life stand out for Your glory! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
