What Is "Seasoning" Your Heart?
Food is one of the pleasures of life that God gives us ... like sharing meals with family or friends.
Meals teach us the importance of good seasoning. Honestly, if you get the seasoning wrong, it can ruin a good piece of meat or fish.
Our hearts are a bit like this ... we can “season” them with good or bad things! And this seasoning gives our lives a certain flavor from that point forward.
Different things can feed you, such as the Word of God, of course, Jesus’s joy or peace, etc. These are good influences! However, sometimes we allow ourselves to be influenced by fear, doubt, or dread. These are bad influences, bad “seasonings” that release a bitter flavor into our lives if we let them take hold.
Today, if this is the case for you, you can put an end to these fearful thoughts by confessing and meditating on these Bible verses:
- “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song I will praise Him.” (Psalm 28:7)
- “Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though its waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah.” (Psalm 46:2-3)
- “Do not fear, nor be afraid; have I not told you from that time, and declared it? You are My witnesses. Is there a God besides Me? Indeed there is no other Rock; I know not one.” (Isaiah 44:8)
- “You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you.” (Psalm 91:5-7)
Jesus paid the price for you to be free ... and definitely from fear and all its torment! Read His Word every day so that fear gives way to faith, a triumphant faith in Him!
Thanks for existing!
