Wean Us of Our Need for Control, Lord!
"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me." -2 Corinthians 12:9
Question: Does your life reflect the truth that Jesus’ grace is enough?
Many of us would wrestle with the answer to that one.
You see, we live in opposing worlds. This present life teaches us to be independent, headstrong, successful, trust nobody, do whatever you need to get ahead, and to thine own self be true. The world admires strength, and despises weakness.
But, we are not made for this world. Our citizenship is in heaven. In Corinthians we learn that trust in an unseen God is critical to our faith. When we are at our weakest - His strength will rest on us; that His grace is sufficient to sustain us. We learn that He will never give us more than we can handle and will ALWAYS provide a way for us to stand up under the pressure. We know that He is working ALL things - good and bad - together for the good of those who love them. For He knows the plans he has prepared for us; plans to prosper us and not to harm us.
Prayer: Dear Jesus, we are so indoctrinated into this world’s system. As a woman who likes to “get things done” I find it hard to wait and ask my husband to tackle a difficult task for me; how much harder it is to wait on You and Your timing, and not rely on my own strength to fulfill a dream. Wean us of our need for control, Lord. Break down our defenses. Help us to trust You more! Give us the ability to boast in our weaknesses, and may your power rest on each one of us. Amen
