We Were Created to Work

You and I were created to work. Any honorable, respectable job is better than no work at all.

A worker is worthy of his food (Matthew 10:10, NKJV).

Jesus Christ knew He had been sent to earth from heaven to save mankind from sin. Yet for thirty years He worked in a carpentry shop in Nazareth. Talk about being overqualified for a job! And although the apostle Paul knew he had been sent from God to evangelize the world, establishing the church in the first century, he supported himself and others through tent making.

What job do you think is beneath you? Very often people refuse to work unless it’s in a job that meets their qualifications and goals. All around us are men and women who, when they are laid off work because their company downsizes, just sit around, send out resumes, and complain that they are out of work. It takes only a glance at the classified ads in the newspaper to know there is plenty of work out there if we are just willing to take on a job we may be very overqualified for and one that doesn't match our lifetime career goals. You and I were created to work. Any honorable, respectable job is better than no work at all. So . . . stop sitting, keep looking, and start working!
