We Need Jesus

Description

Because God doesn’t grade on a curve, we all, quite simply, need Jesus.

1 Timothy 1:15 (NIV®)

Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst.

The Jesus-story is awkward and uncomfortable until you understand, like the Apostle Paul, that you’re a sinner who needs a Savior: that you’re not inherently good, that you can’t earn your way to heaven, and that your best expressions of kindness and morality will leave you far short of the standards of Almighty God. The truth is that our wickedness put Jesus on the cross. We crucified Him just as surely as the Roman soldiers did. We have a desire for the power of God and the miraculous, but what precedes those is our recognition that we need a Savior. God’s standards for righteousness are holiness and purity. And because God doesn’t grade on a curve, we all, quite simply, need Jesus.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, I am a sinner and I need a Savior. Jesus, I ask You to be Lord of my life––my whole life. I thank You for the cross and all that it imparts to me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
