We Identify with His Ways

We should serve others because Jesus Christ—Deity itself—has chosen to serve us.

Christ has identified with us, and the Holy Spirit has identified us with Christ, and now we have to choose to live out that identification. The center of the Christian life is to live out of that identification.

Since he has identified with us and we are identified with him, we should choose to participate in the family ethic. We should choose to serve others as he has chosen to serve us.

But Jesus called them to Himself, and said, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great men exercise authority over them. It is not so among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many" (Mat 20:25-28).

Jesus Christ, Deity itself, has chosen to serve us. Not only out of gratitude but also out of sheer pride that we serve such a humble God, we should serve others because God has served us.
