For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of the dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
How many times throughout my day do I, as a mom, get frustrated or aggravated, and feel like I am a horrible mom? It’s too many to count some days. I need to realize that my struggle is not against flesh and blood. My struggle is not with my husband, or my children, or my children’s friends who are not being nice to my child. My struggle is not with my in-laws, or my parents, or my boss. My struggle is against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
As moms, we need to begin to realize whom our struggle is with and start fighting on the true battlefield. The battlefield is in the spiritual realm. Jesus tells us in John 16:33, “In this world you will have trouble. But, take heart! I have overcome the world.” Instead of me trying to fight my battles in my own effort, I need to start taking my struggles to God and ask for His protection, His word, His wisdom, His self-control, His love. In Him is the only place I will ever find victory.
But as long as I continue to believe the lie that my struggle is against my husband or the teacher that is not being fair to my child, or as long as I believe my struggle is with my child and the two of us cannot get along, I will always be defeated. Our enemy, Satan, wants us to focus on these things because he knows we will lose the battle. However, our Heavenly Father tells us that our struggle is a spiritual one, and we need to fight the battle in a spiritual realm. Only then will we find victory.
Father, Open my eyes and show me Your way. Open my heart to see the world as You see the world. Fill me with Your Spirit so that I may have love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, and self-control. I can only fight this battle and be victorious through You. Thank You for overcoming this world and for giving me hope!
