You know how the worship wandering goes... You have every intention of focusing a heart full of gratitude and praise on God, but within seconds your mind is venturing all sorts of places, none of which are very grateful or worshipful. But if you press through—if you keep letting go of pressing concerns and bring your thoughts back to praise—you eventually find that place in your spirit where you and God are on the same frequency and all seems right inside. The world outside may still be unsettled, but you strike a chord with the Spirit. There’s beauty within, and it was definitely worth the fight to find it.
Sometimes that state of worship comes easily, but usually it doesn’t. You have to contend for it. Far too many people give up too soon, then feel the weight of disappointment, or perhaps even make assumptions about God not being relevant to real life. But if you don’t give up—if you see deep, worshipful synchronization with God’s Spirit as your highest prize and refuse to let it go—wonderful things begin to happen. Your spirit grows lighter, God’s power comes closer, and many of the circumstances of your life begin to bow to him, just as your heart does.
That’s worth a lot of perseverance. Don’t settle for less. Pursue God fully, never relent, and let your praises break through the clutter, concerns, and objections of life. When they do, he breaks through in remarkable—and fully satisfying—ways.
