Waiting

Description

Moms, don't begin to fret as you watch other moms advance their careers. God tells us not to fret; instead, be patient and wait on Him and on His timing.

Psalms 37:10

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.

To be still before the Lord and to wait patiently on Him requires one thing from me--discipline. In the fast pace world that we live in, it takes discipline to sit quietly before God. If I will train myself to wait upon God, then He promises to act on my behalf. (Isaiah 64:4) Even though being still before God may feel like a waste of my time, in God’s world, my being still and waiting, will pay off big dividends in the long run.

Sometimes, I can feel like the world is passing me by as a mom. I look around and see other moms advancing their careers, accomplishing so much, and I think to myself, “what am I accomplishing?" God tells us not to fret, but be patient and wait on Him, His timing, His way. Take the focus off of yourself and place your focus on God.

This practice of making myself slow down and wait, enables me to keep things in perspective and realize my needs will be met through God, not myself. When you think about it, it is a gift from God, and it relieves so much pressure off of our shoulders as moms.

Today, take your cares and concern to God in prayer. Ask Him to meet you where you are. After your prayer, sit quietly before God and think about His greatness: He was the one who created the Universe, man, and all things great and small. Think about His holiness, His glory, His splendor.  And think, that He, in ALL his greatness, wants a relationship with you! He wants to walk with you daily, to meet you where you are.

Prayer:

Father, Thank You that You are patient with me and loving at all times. Thank You that You want a relationship with me and that You understand and know where I am as a mom. God, give me patience and give me discipline so I can be still and wait on You.
