We are a work-in-progress. God is not done with us and some days it’s a bumpy construction zone.

I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. (Philippians 1:3-6 ESV)

Women sometimes we can be downright scary. Our moods swing faster than our peri-menopausal temperatures.

Imagine then, how volatile an office full of middle-aged women can be . . . especially when there’s a deadline to make. Such was my life this past week. Our 9AM meetings were a roller-coaster of emotions. When one of my coworkers flat-out said that she was a bit, ‘punchy’ my funny bone began to twitch.

When lunch time came, I headed for home to execute the plan that was birthed hours earlier. I grabbed the supplies and rushed back to the office to be sure I could do the deed before anyone returned to witness.

Then I sat in wait.

The ‘punchy’ girl roared in laughter at the yellow caution tape I had placed across the doorway of her cubicle. She left it up all day, ducking under and pointing to it as if to warn any ill-advised visitors.

Ladies, do you have days when warning signs are prudent? Have you ever dared?

We are a work-in-progress. God is not done with us and some days it’s a bumpy construction zone. Ruth Graham had these words inscribed on her tombstone:

That about says it all; wise words from a Godly, wise woman.

Lord, we are so thankful that you are not done with us yet, but that you are daily working in and through us to see us to completion.
