From 1939 to 1945, over one billion people fought in World War II. Over 30 countries were involved in the war and had to pick which side they were on: the Allies or the Axis. Over 60 million people died in this brutal war.
By the summer of 1945, it was obvious that the Axis powers were going to lose—and on September 2, the Japanese formally surrendered. The war was over.
This world is in a Spiritual World War, and we hear about it in the book of Revelation. John was given a bunch of visions (kind of like dreams) about the world and its spiritual battles. John saw that “[ten kings] will receive authority to rule as kings with the beast for one hour. They have one purpose—to give their power and authority to the beast. (That’s Satan.) They will go to war against the lamb. (That’s Jesus.) The lamb will conquer them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings. Those who are called, chosen, and faithful are with him” (Revelation 17:12-14).
The whole world is involved in this war. The people on Satan’s team have one goal: to serve Satan and wage war against Jesus. Sometimes is looks like they are winning, but God says that they will only have authority for one hour. (God just means that in the whole scheme of things, they have a very short time to look like they are winning.)
But the outcome is obvious. The Lamb will win. The day Jesus comes back, the beast’s team will formally sign their surrender papers. They will lose.
Because you are on Jesus’ team, you get to be part of the great victory celebration.
