Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV)
A young woman we know is set to graduate in a few months. The last time we had seen her, we were speaking with her about her future ‘unplans’. She had been offered several safe options but knew that the Lord was calling her out from comfort and the familiar, and into the unknown.
Months had passed and my husband and I headed over to her place for some updates and dinner. We were wondering how she was managing as she was clearly weighted down in our last visit. When she opened the door, we were pleasantly surprised to see her smiling from ear to ear . . . even her steps appeared lighter.
As we chatted it became clear that she had peace. She had no idea where she would be living in a few weeks or what her next step was, but she was walking in obedience. She had turned down all the ‘safe’ offers as she knew they were out of the will of God. It appears that peace comes in the decision – as long as the decision is in agreement with the Lord.
Father, we thank You for the still small voice that directs us away from what is good and to sometimes wait for what is best. Help us to be brave when You’ve called us to be and to be obedient even when it may be the unpopular decision. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
