Uh-Oh!

Description

Spaghettios and laughter provide comic relief to this mom's already overloaded schedule!

“Honey, I need you to see what’s wrong with Truett’s ear in the morning; it’s kind of red,” my husband remarked after he put our two-year-old to bed.

I couldn’t help but wonder what could possibly be wrong with my little guy now. I was glad that he was snuggled in his bed, so I figured it could wait until morning. He'd recently had a stomach bug, followed by stitches, followed by a cold... and now the possibility of an ear infection. I was ready for sick season to be done!

Does it ever feel like one thing after the other after the other to you? The regular daily activities of being a mom/wife/human being in this world feel like enough most days. Childhood illnesses, stacks of bills and household chores without end are a full-enough-already load for this mama, and an ear gone awry was not on my wish list.

The next morning my husband asked me again, “Please take a look at his ear. It’s really red and looks like he has hurt it at some point.”

Pffffffft. Time to "mom-up" and figure out what we are dealing with. I took a closer look, grabbed a warm, wet washcloth and started to giggle.

The culprit of my sons potential ear injury and the cause of his daddy’s "uh-oh" moment? Spaghettios!

Exactly what I needed that day: a mom-problem solved with a warm washcloth and laughter rather than another visit to the doctor.

Dear God, thank you for a little comic relief amidst my full days. Thank you for caring for my children even more than I do, and thank you that sometimes laughter is the only medicine we need. Amen
