In today’s world, there’s a seemingly constant need to stay connected. Everywhere you go, people are posting pictures, typing Tweets, and checking all their social media accounts. We have an almost insatiable appetite with what is going on with everyone around us. But the danger is that we can begin to worship the voices of other people and miss hearing the voice of God!

We’re three days into our social media fast as a church. I pray we keep up the good work! Hopefully by now, we’ve experienced some powerful connection with God. Rather than focusing on Facebook or eyeing Instagram, continue to tune in to the voice of God. And experience the joy of connecting with the Author of life, not the imitation of life social media can become.

PRAY

Thank God for your connection with Him. As you are tempted to check your social media feed, pray for God to speak to you, to connect with you, and to show you what is truly important in that moment.

Join us in starting your own technology fast. If you are still tempted to check your social media feed during this fast, move the APPs off of the home screen of your device. It will be easier to detach from them for the rest of this week if they are not there every time you look at your device.
