Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you. (Jeremiah 32:17, NIV)
Thank goodness nothing is too hard for our Lord! Life is not always easy. As a matter of fact, it can be overwhelming and exhausting at times. There are many moments in life, parenting and marriage that are too hard for me. The challenge for me in those moments is to stop myself from pressing on and trying to do things in my own strength. We are all human and when we live life in our own strength, we fall short.
Instead, I must slow down and admit that I cannot handle things in my own strength. If I can pause and take a breath in the difficult moments, ask God to be in control and lean into His power and ability to do all things well, everyone wins. The people around me win because they experience the character of Christ rather than my weakness, frustration, anger, etc. I win because I do not have to carry the burden of my circumstances alone and the guilt of responding inappropriately when I cannot bear the stress. God wins, because He gets the glory for coming through and doing what only He can do.
I have learned through the years to come to the Lord before I ever get out of bed in the morning and confess that I cannot do anything well in my own strength. I remind myself from the start of each day that I am wholly dependent on Him to live a life that honors Hm.
As challenges arise throughout my day, I must pause, remember that the Holy Spirit lives in me and nothing is too hard for Him. What an amazing truth, the God who made the heavens and the earth lives inside each of us as believers in Christ. He loves you so very much and wants you to rest and rely on Him even in the most difficult moments. Lord, thank you that nothing is too hard for you!
