We either bear the fruit of the spirit or the fruit of the flesh. The thorn is the “fruit” of the thorn-bush—“immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing” (Galatians 5:19-21). But the fruit of the Spirit is “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control” (Galatians 5:22-23). Those rooted in the thorn bush bristle with thorns, but those who dwell in Christ bear true fruit.
