Train Your Child
Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it. – Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV)
Years of research tells us that what a person is exposed to at an early age greatly determines who they will become later in life. Other studies tell us that while cognitive learning peaks at around age 35, our moral development peaks at around age 10 and sharply declines until around age 16. Simply put, we have a short amount of time to instill in our kids the moral fabric they need.
The Bible has actually been telling us this all along. We have to help our kids learn early on to grasp the morals and values they need to face decisions they will encounter as they grow up. If we teach our kids these lessons while they are young, it becomes more than just head knowledge; it becomes a part of their heart – their moral DNA. With this kind of moral fabric, a child will grow up to be able to stand strong when faced with moral decisions. They will feel confident to go in the way they should go and not depart from it.
Ask God to help you to train your child/children in the way they should go.
