Train Them to Thrive

Show your children how to appreciate the things of God.

Ephesians 5:1 (NIV®)

Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children.

The most valuable lessons in our lives are caught; they come through observation. God designed children to be world-class imitators. The children in your house are learning from you how to live in the world. And one of the most constructive lessons you can teach by example is to speak positively about Christians and the Church. If all they hear is discontent with Christians and churches, when they are old enough to vote with their feet they’ll vote no. You’re training them what to loveā€•don’t fail to show them your passion for the things of the Living God.

Heavenly Father, show us how to teach our children to thrive in life—not only physically but spiritually. Grant us the wisdom to make You our first priority so that our children will make You their first priority. Help us to be more like You so that we will be worthy of their imitation. Thank You for hearing my prayer, amen.
