Through God's Eyes

The Lord does not look at the things people look at. We need to be intentional about seeing things God's way.

1 John 4:7 (NIV®)

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God.

One of the unfortunate characteristics of human beings is that we look for ways to elevate ourselves above one another. We use every possible reason―birthplace, language, education, income, hair color, length of nose―you name it, we’ll use it to justify those thoughts. But one of the great revelations of Scripture is that God loves us all. He is our Creator, and He designed each one of us to be unique, special, one of a kind. I imagine that He looks at identical twins and sees not their similarities, but their differences. And He looks at each of us and sees His wonderful creation. Let’s be intentional when we look at others. Let’s strip away all those categories of “like me” and “not like me” and see people through the eyes of God, the eyes of love.

Heavenly Father, You have created each of us as beautiful, unique people who mysteriously reflect Your image. Give me the ability to see others as You see them and love them as You love them. May the attitudes of my heart and the words of my mouth honor You and all of Your creation. In Jesus’ name, amen.
