Think Positively

Description

Don't do the same thing over and over and expect different results. Plan for acceptance, positivity, and friendliness—and that's what you'll get!

“Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” Philippians 4:8 (esv)

It’s been said that insanity is doing the same thing over and over and each time expecting the results will be different. Surely this is true of my thoughts as well. What I think, I will find. If I prepare myself to meet with negativity, discouragement or hostility, I am sure to see it. But if I plan for acceptance, positivity and friendliness, then that is what I will discover. If my mind is negative, my life will be too. If I don’t change how I think about things, with positivity and hope in the Lord rather than doubt and despair, no matter how much I desire it, nothing new can happen.

My mind is strong and stubborn but the Holy Spirit is stronger. He can help me manage my mind, corral my thoughts, attitudes and decisions and focus them all toward Christ. The insanity of doubt and gloom can be replaced with wisdom, reason and joy.

FAITH STEP: Don’t do the same thing over and over and expect the results to be different. If you find yourself doubting, whining, complaining or expecting the worst, turn it around. Instead of “I hate rain,” think “my garden is being watered.” Jesus has brought joy into our lives. Live like it!
