The Third Arrives

00:00

Description

With the sending of the Spirit, Jesus is bringing us completely into the life of the Trinity.

In John 14-17, Jesus described the realities of the post-resurrection world. One of those realities will be the presence of the Holy Spirit. Jesus stated, "I will ask the Father, and he will give you another encouraging Helper, that he may be with you forever, the spirit of truth... All of you personally know him because he continually is remaining around you, and that in all of you he will be" (John 14:16-18).

With the sending of the Spirit, Jesus is bringing us completely into the life of the Trinity. The Father and Son are involved and now the Spirit is. The Spirit will be in us, and what will He do? He will continually remind us of what the Son has done for us. He will honor the Person and work of Christ. He will also continually remind us that we have a Father in Heaven. As Galatians stated, "And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, shouting, 'Abba! Father!'" (Galatians 4:6).

The Spirit's goal is to keep us continually aware of the Father's and Son's love, and what they are doing for us.
