Scripture: Numbers 2:1-3:51
The Lord’s order and organization amaze me. Did you find yourself in awe as you read too?
The Tabernacle had been built and dedicated. The Priests were chosen and ordained. The Lord was now ready to set things in motion for the move to the Promised Land. He instructed Moses on the formation for the move. He divided the 12 tribes and tucked the Tabernacle safely in the middle of the Israelites.
The placement of the Tabernacle is significant. That which represented the Lord’s presence was placed right in the middle of the formation. It resided in the hub of the movement. The Tabernacle was the abiding presence of God, just as the Holy Spirit is the abiding presence of God in our life. He is at the center of our movement. He is our leadership. In order to reach our place of promise, we must abide in the Holy Spirit. Here’s some encouragement for our journey:
“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love.” (John 15:9*)
“If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love.” (John 15:10)
“So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, ‘If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples.’” (John 8:31)
“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.” (John 15:4)
“By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.” (1 John 4:13)
