The Soundtrack of the Spirit

Description

Practice thoughts that lead you into joy, peace, and wholeness. The soundtrack of the Spirit is always good to hear.

Most of us have some sort of soundtrack playing in our heads—the background theme that colors all our perceptions and feelings. Unfortunately, this soundtrack has been shaped by shame, fear, bitterness, disappointment, or any combination thereof. It doesn’t lead us into truth, no matter how accurate we think our perceptions are. It leads us in the opposite direction of a renewed mind and a full heart.

Whenever you hear this soundtrack playing its negative, Spirit-quenching themes, don’t just sit there and take it. Get up and change the channel. Break off your relationship with negative thought patterns and walk away. No, you can’t remain friends with them. They’ve done nothing to help you. You can’t have a renewed mind without leaving some old things behind.

That’s easier said than done, of course, but it’s still doable. Whenever your thoughts are undermining joy, peace, and wholeness, you know they aren’t from God. No matter how strange and new it feels, embrace thoughts that lead you into joy, peace, and wholeness. Practice them. The soundtrack of the Spirit is always good to hear.
