The Slippery Slope

Description

There has been a dramatic social change in the past thirty to forty years, with societies embracing so-called tolerance and reversing their traditional moral beliefs. God’s Word is clear that this is wrong, thus putting us on a slippery slope toward moral chaos.

Let us examine our ways and test them,  and let us return to the Lord. (Lamentations 3:40 NIV)

Think about the consequences of legalizing gay marriage. What doors have now opened? If marriage is redefined to include same-sex relationships, how in the name of justice can you not allow marriage for other types of relationships? Like polygamy, or marriage between immediate family members. How could anybody object if marriage is redefined to allow any relationship between consenting adults? And in regard to polygamy, doesn’t the concept of “equal justice under the law” now require that we accommodate all religious beliefs? Because the Koran allows four wives, banning polygamy is certainly anti-Muslim. And in a culture that worships multiculturalism, we sure don’t want to be discriminatory.

You are probably thinking, You’re being silly. Nothing like that could ever happen in this country. Let me ask you a question. In 1960, could you have imagined someone declaring, “Someday same-sex marriages will be legalized”? After all, that had never happened in any nation in history! But there has been a dramatic social change in the past thirty to forty years, with societies embracing so-called tolerance and reversing their traditional moral beliefs. For example, abortions are now routine, and homosexual marriage is now legal in many countries and states. God’s Word is clear that this is wrong. It’s putting us on a slippery slope toward moral chaos.
