The Security Of Our Story

Like Renee Swope, you might be surprised by how interested your kids are to hear the story of how you met their father.

I’m always surprised at how interested my kids are in the story of how I met their Dad!

My husband JJ and I just celebrated 20 years of marriage. Instead of going out alone for our anniversary, we had a special dinner with our kids to celebrate. It was so much fun to talk with them about our early years of marriage before we had kids.

And much to my surprise, our boys started asking how we met and some of the funny things that happened while we dated. They actually wanted to hear our story.

Telling them how we met and why we decided to get married seemed like just a fun way to reminisce but I think it goes deeper. I think knowing our story reassures our kids we really love each other and are committed to staying together no matter what. And, I think it makes them feel more secure as they face their own uncertainties each day.
