The Rock of Salvation
Molly Schuyler ate 363 chicken wings in thirty minutes. She won a prize for being a glutton. But gluttony can make us lose the really important things. With salvation comes many good things, stability in the life, peace of heart and often a more successful life. Sometimes success can drown out what really matters. That happened to Israel.
Curds of cows, and milk of the flock, with fat of lambs, and rams, the breed of Bashan, and goats, with the finest of the wheat—and of the blood of grapes you drank wine. "But Jeshurun [or upright one, a name for Israel] grew fat and kicked—You are grown fat, thick, and sleek—Then he forsook God who made him, And scorned the Rock of his salvation (Deut 32:14–15).
Never forget that you have been purchased with the blood of God. No matter how many blessings Christianity brings into your life, never forget the Blesser! We have been rescued from sin and death so that we may fellowship with the Father, through the Son, by the Holy Spirit. When Adam chose the fruit, unfortunately he chose good things over God. In our daily choices we should choose fellowship with God the Father as the great good of our life.
